Beginning, Middle End Worksheets

Engaging Beginning, Middle, and End Worksheets for Storytelling Success

This set of 5 short story worksheets has been created to engage students in exploring what happens in the beginning of a story, in the middle (including the problem) and the end (including the solution). Some stories can make this element a little confusing – so these worksheets have been created to explicitly show these different elements to a narrative.

Each short story has a cut and paste element with images where students need to sort images into the following headings:

Beginning

Middle

End

Characters

Setting

Story Elements Activities

These worksheets work great for individual practise for students to show their understanding, however, they can also work in pairs or even as a whole class activity. Read the story together as a class and explore the different elements together and have a discussion about each element.

You can also print these worksheets and laminate them and create a story element sorting activity that can be used again and again.
